Williams, celebrated author of The Spirit and Forms of Love, wrote many other shorter pieces which have been collected for the first time in the present volume. The articles are listed chronologically under two broad headings: constructive essays and critical dialogue. Under the first are to be found articles setting forth Williams' own version of process-oriented theology; under the second, his reflections on the thought of other twentieth-century theologians (for example, Barth, Brunner, Reinhold Niebuhr, Tillich, Wiernan, Meland, etc.). Virtually all the essays deal with the complex relationship between faith and reason. The book should certainly be included in institutional libraries so as to supplement Williams' already published works. But it might also be useful for individuals interested in the development of his thought. The articles are photocopied from various sources; hence, there is no one uniform style of print. Likewise, sexist language
