One For the Road

Old Aristotle's notion
Determines life by motion.
His doctrine is that if it moves it lives.

Paul's second Corinth letter
Puts matters somewhat better.
Th' Apostle writes that when one loves one gives.

Since these thoughts aren't contrary,
Choice isn't necessary.
To give, move, live, love: keeps us from our graves.

On, then, with celerity,
Charity, hilarity.
Return all gifts to God above, Who saves.

Harry N. D. Fisher received his undergraduate training and law degree from the University of Chicago, and after serving as an Air Force Judge Advocate, he practiced law in St. Louis until 1959. Since then he has worked in public relations and is currently with Stemmler, Fisher & Associates of St. Louis.
