225 - Being Human

Being Human
By Robert P. Montgomery

Programmed plans for the day
go astray.

In solitary midnight hours
all is clear.

But in the market places of tomorrow
visions clash: personas, sorrowfully, follow.

Why? Is it the selectivity of the I?
Such questions plague the mind

And leave a gnawing doubt:
Is reality unkind?

Or is the final truth of givenness
forgiveness?

Robert P. Montgomery is Professor of Philosophy at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. For the past several years, Dr. Montgomery has been the American Director of the Summer Institute at St. Andrews, Scotland.
