Ancient Churches Revealed

This beautifully done volume is part of the publisher's series on "The Holy Land Revealed," and is produced in the same format as Jerusalem Revealed (1975) and Ancient Synagogues Revealed (1981). This one, too, is filled with hundreds of black and white photos, maps, and diagrams, but unlike those it includes eighty-three pictures in color.
A fold out map locates scores of sites containing church buildings that date between c. 300 and 1300, almost exclusively in Israel. Unfortunately nothing from Jordan is included. The churches are arranged in sections according to geographical divisions of Israel from north to south.
Although the work contains primarily updated articles published originally in the Hebrew periodical Qadmoniot, it includes some new ones. The result is the most thorough and best presented material now available on the ancient churches in Israel.
