In Memoriam

By Beatrice Page

In her ninety-fifth year
as the shadows were gathering,
her mind floated light as lily pad
on quiet pond: cool, serene,
tethered to a long stem of life
rooted in faith.
In patience she waited
for the white blossoming
in its time and season.
